Carrick-on-Shannon feels like a home-from-home, and rightly so. It boasts elegance, magnificence and beauty. Spend days admiring castles, learn about the 20th century arts, or just enjoy the live music and quiz nights at the hotel. Inspirational sights and scenery fills you with imagination as we follow father and son, W.B Yeats and J.B Yeats, admiring both their poetry and paintings along the way.
Day 1 Today sees us travelling to Mold for an overnight stay in the Beaufort Park Hotel *** Kick your feet up and relax whilst enjoying the hotels surroundings.
Day 2 Awaken to a leisurely start at the Beaufort Park Hotel. The summer air and a spot of tea will help guide us through the morning before making our way to catch the afternoon ferry from Holyhead to the magical Dublin.
We will then peruse our way through to Carrick-on-Shannon, a heart-warming river-side town boasting elegance and beauty. We will then arrive at the Bush Hotel *** which will be our home away from home for 4 nights.
Day 3 After breakfast we will travel north to Irelands oldest pottery producer, Belleek Pottery. We have the pleasure of a guided tour, allowing us to really sink our teeth into the history, and beauty, of the pottery on show. Perhaps we will dabble in a spot of refreshments at Belleek Tearooms before boarding the coach to travel to Sligo.
This scenic town beholds the birth place of poet W.B Yeats and his father, J.B Yeats, the painter. Here we will take our time to let the inspirational sights and scenery
sink in, after all, this did inspire some of the most beautiful poetry and paintings of the 20th century.
Day 4 Today we will board the Moon River Pleasure Cruiser for a relaxing hour long cruise on the longest, and one of the most beautiful rivers in Ireland, the River Shannon.
We will enjoy on-board entertainment and commentary before returning back to Carrick-on-Shannon. We then have the remainder of the day at leisure to explore and take a
stroll around the restaurants, cafés and shops.
Day 5 Enniskillen and Enniskillen Castle Museums are our point of call today as we spend some free time exploring the craft shops and the towns historic Buttermarket.
After lunch we travel up the shores of Upper Lough Erne to board the Inishcruiser for a relaxing cruise to Crom Castle for a private tour personally conducted by the Earl
of Erne before being served afternoon tea in the victorian Conservatory.
Day 6 After breakfast we say goodbye to Carrickon-Shannon and make our way to our overnight accommodation the Esplanade Hotel, Bray ***
located on the outskirts of Dublin.
Day 7 Sit back and enjoy the ferry crossing from Dublin to Holyhead and travel back home to the West Country.
