 a converted Victorian Manor House

which features a fine-dining restaurant and relaxed lounge.

Day 2  We continue our journey north to Drymen,

our home for the next 2 nights will be the Winnock Hotel ***

a former 18th century ale-house which overlooks the village green.

There will be live entertainment one evening.

The hotel does not have a lift,

but ground floor rooms are available upon request.

Day 3  Awaken to enjoy a two hour cruise across Loch Lomond

on the Loch Lomond Waterbus service.

home to the red deer, whilst observing rugged Scottish scenery.

for some much needed lunchtime refreshment.

Loch Lomond

Day 4  After breakfast this morning we leave Drymen

and travel north to the Granite City of Aberdeen.

En-route we’ll make a visit to Dundee,

a coastal city on the Firth of Tay estuary,

for some free time before arriving at the Mercure Caledonian Hotel ****

where we will spend the next five nights

enjoying this traditional hotel.

Day 5  Enjoy a day at leisure in Aberdeen

giving you time to explore this traditional Scottish city.

Wander around the expansive Duthie Park to your heart’s content,

or maybe you’d prefer to see the sites,

some of which include a 17th-century jail or St Machar’s Cathedral,

a 12th-century cathedral with stained glass windows.

Finish the day off by retiring to the hotel

to enjoy a well-stocked terrace lounge bar and a bite to eat.

Day 6  Today we will visit Duff House,

a magnificent Georgian mansion nestled in extensive parkland.

Considered to be one of the most important architectural endeavours

in Scotland, the building now houses an impressive

collection of paintings.

After exploring the house and grounds,

we can enjoy lunch in the Tearoom before a short trip

to the neighbouring harbour town

of Banff, before returning to our hotel.

Day 7  Today we trace the footsteps of the Royal family.

We begin our day with a short stop at the Church of Crathie

best known for being the regular place of worship for the Royal family

when holidaying in Scotland.

We then visit the Balmoral Castle and Estate

which is nestled in the shadows of Lochnagar.

We will have free time for lunch at the coffee shop on the Estate.

In the afternoon we will make our way to the Royal Deeside Railway

at Milton of Crathes train station

where we will board a train for a 2 mile return journey.

The Royal Deeside Railway is unique in having served all British Monarchs

from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II,

their families and foreign visitors travelling to Balmoral.

Day 8  After a leisurely breakfast,

we begin our day with a half day guided tour of Aberdeen,

 Scotland’s third largest city.

This afternoon we have a fantastic opportunity

to see Aberdeen’s famous urban dolphins up close

when we set sail on the 90 minute Aberdeen Dolphin Adventure Cruise.

Day 9  Today we say goodbye to Scotland and start our journey home

with an overnight stay at the Marriott Preston.

Day 10  Travel home to the West Country and surrounding areas.
